Documentary filmmakers often enter this work because they believe stories can matter. They want to create films with purpose and contribute something meaningful to the world. But meaningful work also has to be sustainable.

After nearly twenty years of producing impact documentaries, Gratis 7 Media Group recognized a persistent gap between the creative craft of filmmaking and the business systems required to sustain it.

We built Doc Film School to address that gap.

DFS brings together the experience, systems, and business practices into a comprehensive framework for impact documentary filmmakers, funders, and leaders of creative divisions.

It connects development, funding, audience, marketing, distribution, and measurable impact allowing partisapants to design their work around a clear purpose.

This is not education built around simply making more content. It is built around helping filmmakers create meaningful work, serve a defined audience, achieve specific outcomes, and develop sustainable careers that allow them to continue doing it.

For Gratis 7, education is how we are stewarding two decades of experience forward. By putting what we've learned into the hands of other filmmakers, we are helping build a generation of storytellers with both the creative ability and business infrastructure to make work that matters.
